Summary
search-engines no longer index on quality but rather on SEO - can we take high-quality content and convert it to SEO-friendly content with minimal time/effort?
Usefulness: Practical/Productive
Techniques
- Use ChatGPT to build an SEO-driven structure for an article, focussing on keyword techniques and using a feedback cycle from Google searches and top hits on the topic
- Manually merge the SEO-structure with the human-written content structure
- Use ChatGPT to write each section of the merged content, matching a wordcount
- Manually improve the sections, correcting misleading statements, and adding nuance and re-surfacing any valuable content that got lost in translation
Discoveries
- Goal: measure the impact on search ranking via website analytics; baseline is articles that were 100% human-authored (the ones we ‘merged in’ with the SEO structure); primary outcome is ‘does this approach signficantly alter the volume of traffic from search, and/or the search ranking?’
