Summary
STAR questions are stupid, hard to answer, require hours of prep; can we have the AI generate the answers for us? ... why not have the AI also evaluate *and improve* our answers?
Usefulness: Practical/Productive
Techniques
- Complex multi-phase prompt:
- Synthesise “my entire career, everything good and bad I ever did”
- Generate appropriate STAR questions that people will ask (note: most STAR questions are highly predictable – it’s one of the reasons they’re a bad interview technique)
- Combine the above to create appropriate STAR answers
- De-hallucinate: Discover places where the provided backstory (by the human) was insufficiently detailed (for the AI) to answer effectively
- Note the “de-hallucinate” step above — I’m experimenting here with killing hallucinations at source by ensuring the AI always has sufficient data it doesn’t *need* to hallucinate.
Discoveries
- Wracking my brain trying to remember everything I’ve ever done on every project at every company, to then select the few that are best for this question … takes a huge amount of time and energy. The AI does it well for me.
- Hallucination-avoidance? worked well so far.
